Item 43. (Finally!) Board Meeting Minutes for August 27, 1997 Misti Anslin Tucker (mta) Mon, Oct 13, 1997 (20:29). 89 lines, 2 responses. The opening gavel was struck at 7:45 pm. In attendance were: valerie, janc, kaplan, jared, scg, scott, llanarth, dickb, dan, davel, and mta. _covetousness_: The Treasurers Report See item 26. August update: o there have been $300 in dues paid to date. o the ISDN line has brought in $445 in August for a total of $715 of the $1035 pledged. o The auction has brought in $151.07 in August for a total of $670.07 of the $821.54 pledged. August see us with 1 new member, 4 unpaid members in their grace period, and 96 total members. _eggdrop_: Publicity Committee Report Major question: has anyone found a new way to publicize GREX? Suggestion included the Ann Arbor Observer; ads in HS theatre programs, fliers in highschools, and outreach through Ann Arbor's Community Television Network. _lust_: Technical Committee Grex has been crashing a lot lately. These are hard crashes, and the best solution is to get onto the 670. Mike McNally came over to look at the 670, which had been having trouble with the disks we have. Mike managed to fix that problem, but now we need to install the software correctly. (Currently it stops partway through the boot process, just before fsck. GOOD NEWS: The progress has been good. BAD NEWS: We still don't have enough staff hours to work on this. Mike McNally has offered to continue helping this weekend (August 29 & 30)and plans are in process to have a work meeting. Modems: All the modems in the trunk hunt are now GVC error correcting modems and their lines are now back in the order they were in previously. We now have 13 lines working an connected. So far there have only been about 15 minutes each day when every modem is in use, so this setup should hold us for a while. 670: The terminal server is now ready to be put into place as soon as the 670 is ready. _envy_: ISDN Line The phone lines for the ISDN line have now been ordered. The hardware is reported to both already have been ordered and "will be ordered Real Soon Now" The actual status isn't clear. The ISDN routers will be delivered to Jan and Valeries house and the lines should be turned on just after labour day. _gluttony_: Auction Report 3 items remain open 12 items remain unpaid 30 items are paid for aproximately $670 worth of items are paid for, of which $347 worth have not yet been delivered. (For a total of $#22 that has been paid for and delivered.) _anger_: Equipment in Exchange for Exports The concensus was that although we appreciate the offer, grex isn't and shouldn't be in the import/export business and we have elected to turn down the offer. _sloth_: New Business We might want to look into securebuy.com as an avenue to be able to accept credit card payments in GREX's name for memberships. It's an AT&T service to handle credit card payments for small merchants. The closing gavel was sounded at 8:17 for what may well be the shortest Cyberspace Communications Board Meeting on record. 2 responses total. ---------- (43) #1 Valerie Mates (valerie) Tue, Oct 14, 1997 (12:25). 9 lines. Thanks for posting these notes, Misti. Minor correction: The terminal server is ready for use any time a modified version of the telnet queue software is ready. It doesn't need to wait for the 670. A reminder to folks reading this: These are minutes for the August board meeting, two months ago. ---------- (43) #2 Mary Remmers (mary) Wed, Oct 15, 1997 (08:26). 1 line. Thanks, Misti.
